Volunteering

Get involved and support the north London community

Helping those in need

Jacksons Lane have been serving our community in lots of wonderful ways for over forty years. Many events at Jacksons Lane would not be possible without the help of our loyal and committed volunteers.

In 2021 we worked with over 160 volunteers across north London to help people in need of support.  From supporting older adults who face a Christmas Day alone, to work experience internships and everything in between, we offer volunteers who work with us challenging but fulfilling opportunities to work in their communities.

If you are interested in working with the community on arts-related projects and would like to get experience working as part of an exciting, innovative theatre and arts centre, this could be the opportunity for you. Voluntary positions at Jacksons Lane also give you the chance to meet new people, make new friends and see interesting events and theatre.

For over 45 years, older adults who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day have gathered at Jacksons Lane for a day of festival food, entertainment and community spirit.

The very heart of this festive event is a volunteering spirit. We need an army of volunteers to cook the meals, drive around guests, wrap gifts and spread joy on the day. It’s a fun and fulfilling time for all.

Feeling Good helps isolated older people access creative and wellbeing activities at Jacksons Lane and our partner organisations across the borough. We need volunteers to support activities and events. This can be anything from one offs, like social events and theatre trips, to more regular weekly engagement

Thanks to the generous donations from our community, we were able to develop our outside spaces over the summer of 2023 and introduce a brand-new planting scheme.

Our new Garden Volunteer scheme includes drop-in gardening sessions every Thursday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, with coffee and biscuits available for volunteers. You don’t need to have prior gardening experience and are welcome to join and stay for as long as you’re able to. Tasks will involve tending to the plants we have, weeding and keeping the areas tidy, and seasonal planting from time to time.

If you are interested in volunteering with the garden, please submit your details here.

Our JL Circus project works with young people aged 5-18. JL Circus volunteers can take part by supporting the circus facilitators deliver practical exercises, working one-to-one with a participant, helping the JL Circus Coordinator with administrative tasks, helping source props and costumes for showings, and supporting the annual JL Circus Spring Showcase Day.
